Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We are proud as punch, and in awe of how hard our amazing Y6 children have worked all through their time at Watchfield!
So it's SATs this week- the government tests designed to assess how much they know and have learned here at school. We all know here at school, that the answers the children provide on paper are a fraction of all their achievements!
They have developed all manner of skills that can't be assessed by any test. They are artists, runners, footballers, comedians, communicators, thinkers, carers, historians, designers.... the list goes on. But most importantly they are amazing, happy, confident, kind young people who are just fantastic to be around and will go on to become amazing, happy, confident, kind adults!
Good luck in your tests Y6, but please know that you are super, successful and much loved people whatever your results!
On Thursday 9th February, 11 children from across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 represented Watchfield Primary School at the annual Faringdon Partnership Dance Festival. They have been practicing hard with Miss Jenna from Premier Sports to learn an exceptional routine to ‘When a Star is Born.’ We would also like to thank Miss Jenna and the parents for all their hard work and support.
Today is National Teaching Assistants' Day!
Here at Watchfield Primary School, in a whole school assembly, we celebrated the amazing job that our Teaching Assistants do. In recognition of their hard work and dedication, the children presented each of them with a personalised thank you card to show our gratitude.
Clean for the Queen – Litter Pick
On Friday 4th March, Kingfishers and Robins took part in the ‘Clean for the Queen’ litter pick scheme. They eagerly went out into the village to pick up all the litter that was lying around. McDonald’s at Watchfield kindly lent us their litter pickers for the occasion. The Parish Council were so pleased with the efforts of the Kingfishers and Robins they wrote a letter to thank them.
On Wednesday 11 children from across Years 4, 5 & 6 represented us at the Faringdon Academy swimming gala. An extra special congratulations to Owen Jackson who won the 25m Butterfly (Mrs Roberts least favourite event) by a phenomenal distance. We would like to congratulate the following children on their brilliant performances: Owen Jackson, Matthew Banbrook, Sam Daisley, Toby Banbrook, Riley Bevan, Zara Foster, Trinity Worth, Hettie Cosens, Hannah Douglas, Annabel Ball and Maja Damkjaer.
On Wednesday the 2nd December 2015, a group of 20 children from across lower key stage 2 took part in a Basketball festival put on by the Faringdon Academy of Schools. The event ran from 1:15 to 2:45, starting with a rotation of skills stations followed by a fixture of games against other schools. 5 schools from across the Academy took part with six teams of 10. The children showed great enthusiasm throughout the event and took part in all the activities. Finishing the games with a score of 18 points for team A and 20 points for team B. The cheers from the children and the proud parents filled the hall! The highlight of the day was the smiles and the effort made by everyone who took part.

Below is a note from Matt Walsh who has spent Tuesday afternoons with Puffins this term:
Hello, we at London Welsh, just wished to say how enjoyable it was to teach and coach all the children who have completed our Healthy Eating programme this term with us.
It was a real pleasure to receive such positive feedback from the teacher and children alike. Mrs Fayers said “The children have really enjoyed the programme over the past few weeks. Learning about hygiene, diet, exercise and fluids has been really beneficial. The children have loved the rugby activities!”
We hope to see your children again either in the classroom, on the pitch or at the Kassam Stadium next season
If your child is interested in finding out more about rugby please contact us and we will put you in touch with your local rugby club.
Once again thanks for the fun we had and we look forward to seeing you soon again.

Four Year 3/4 boys took part in the Oxfordshire Schools Cross Country Finals, which in itself was a remarkable achievement. The team travelled to Abingdon and were faced with some fierce competition! There were over 60 runners in their race, representing 10 different schools.
Louis Stagg, Gabriel Bignon and George Ford put in a sterling effort and ran a great race but of significant note, Jack Goate finished in 8th position, which was an outstanding achievement.
It was a great event and, although we were not paced as a team, we had a great morning away and all boys acted as fine ambassadors for the school.
Children taking part were: Max, Riley, Rani, Harry T, Matthew B, Cate, Annabel and Linda
