Topic Overviews & Homework

This Term:

In Summer 1, we are going to be studying life in Ancient Greece.  We'll be looking at fabulous myths and mythical creatures, learning about the Ancient Greek Gods and Godesses, and learning a little about everyday life.

Autumn Term 2:

In Autumn 2, we learnt about World War 2, focussing on the War at Home.  We looked at the outbreak of war, studying the countries in the Allies and the Axis groups and more!

Autumn Term 1:

In September, we learnt all about Harry Potter.

We took a tour of the UK by following teams in the Quidditch Premier League!  We were even lucky enough to be taught a lesson by Warner Bros London themselves, all about the movie magic of Harry Potter.

TypeDay SetDay DueExpectations
ReadingEvery dayEvery dayEvery child should spend an average of 15 minutes reading daily.  We ask that that the book title, page numbers and a small comment are recorded in their reading record each day.  They can complete this themselves, we just ask that you check to ensure they are reading each day and try to ask them questions about their book to help them retain key details.  Please do upload a photo to Class Dojo of the reading completed each day by your child.
MathsEvery dayEvery dayThe children in Eagles have all been given a Doodle Maths login, which we encourage them to use to practise their core Maths skills every day.  This will help them to earn a higher streak and in turn, collect more stars!  Additionally, each Friday we are setting homework through Doodle Maths based on our classwork that week to reinforce objectives and skills.  Please pop in to see us if you have any questions.
Times TablesFridayFriday

The children will each be set a times table to practise during the week, ready for a test the following Wednesday.  It is very important that they continue to practise the quick recall of their tables even after they have completed their 12 times table.  Times Tables Rockstars is the recommended way to practise and is lots of fun!

SpellingsFridayFridayEach week, the children will have 10 words to learn based around a theme (e.g. homophones).  They will be tested on these 10 words.  The Eagles have now all been given a Spelling Shed login to help them independently practise their spellings using a fun game.
Topic/EnglishFriday 23rd AprilFriday 28th MayThe children are invited to share their topic homework via Class Dojo to celebrate with the other children in class.  We can't wait to see the results of the hard work you have put in!
