The start of a new school year can only mean one thing... 6 new authors of the term! Give a little drum roll for our first author... Oliver Jeffers!

Oliver Jeffers is a Northern Irish artist, illustrator and writer who now lives and works in Brooklyn. He is famous for his quirky and brilliant illustrations as well as his lovely stories. You may recognise some of his work as he has written many stories (a favourite of mine is "This Moose Belongs To Me"). Check out a video of Oliver sharing one of his books:

This term, we are celebrating the author Matt Haig! Matt Haig is an author for children and adults. His children’s book A Boy Called Christmas was a runaway hit and is translated in over 40 languages. It is being made into a film starring Maggie Smith!

Watchfield's Author of the Term- Spring 1

This term, we are celebrating the author Zanib Mian!

Zanib Mian fell in love with writing at primary school! After studying molecular cell biology at University College London, she taught science in secondary school before deciding to move into children’s publishing.Zanib felt that characters from all minorities were missing from books for young children and launched Sweet Apple Publishers with a clear commitment to publishing inclusive books.

She has written a series of funny, heartwarming chapter books named 'Planet Omar' as well as some beautiful picture books!
