Dear Year 1 Parents,
Thank you to all those parents and children who are getting busy with all the daily activities we are putting on Class Dojo. We are enjoying looking at all the photos of your work. Please don’t forget if you are unsure about a task or how much help you should be giving, you can message us directly through Class Dojo.
In addition to the 3 daily tasks set on Class Dojo you might like to join in with the #PECOACH (Jo Wicks) on YouTube. He is broadcasting a live PE lesson at 9am each morning which you can do in front of the TV or iPad/laptop.
On the website under the ‘home learning’ tab, there are many links to activities and advice. Please use these. Some to highlight are the link to phonics sessions on the RWI site, free access to Phonics Play where there are fun games to play.
This is indeed a very strange time for us all and whilst it might be initially exciting having ‘school’ at home with Mum or Dad, this will probably wear off. We appreciate that you and your children may feel anxious during this time. If you feel that your child is unduly worried about the current situation please contact us through Class Dojo and we will see what advice we can access to help.
Some days it may be better to not attempt the work set, but spend it doing other things such as building a den, eating lunch ‘picnic’ style in your lounge, going for a walk whilst following guidance about social distancing, snuggling up and sharing some favourite stories. Most of all you need to build lovely positive memories for your children so that in the future they can say ‘yes’ I remember the Coronavirus but I also remember having fun and it being a special time for our family.
We wish you all the very best, stay safe and stay in touch.
Mrs Andrews, Mrs Foreman and Mrs Culver
