    Puffins and London Welsh Rugby

Below is a note from Matt Walsh who has spent Tuesday afternoons with Puffins this term:

Hello, we at London Welsh, just wished to say how enjoyable it was to teach and coach all the children who have completed our Healthy Eating programme this term with us.

It was a real pleasure to receive such positive feedback from the teacher and children alike. Mrs Fayers said “The children have really enjoyed the programme over the past few weeks. Learning about hygiene, diet, exercise and fluids has been really beneficial. The children have loved the rugby activities!”

We hope to see your children again either in the classroom, on the pitch or at the Kassam Stadium next season

If your child is interested in finding out more about rugby please contact us and we will put you in touch with your local rugby club.

Once again thanks for the fun we had and we look forward to seeing you soon again.

  • Oxfordshire Schools Cross Country Finals

    Thu 07 May 2015

Four Year 3/4 boys took part in the Oxfordshire Schools Cross Country Finals, which in itself was a remarkable achievement. The team travelled to Abingdon and were faced with some fierce competition! There were over 60 runners in their race, representing 10 different schools.

Louis Stagg, Gabriel Bignon and George Ford put in a sterling effort and ran a great race but of significant note, Jack Goate finished in 8th position, which was an outstanding achievement.

It was a great event and, although we were not paced as a team, we had a great morning away and all boys acted as fine ambassadors for the school.

  • Faringdon Partnership of Schools Tennis Tournament

    Thu 07 May 2015

On a bright but chilly day at the end of April, eight children from year 3 and 4 were invited to Faringdon Tennis Club to take part in the local inter-school tennis competition.  Each child played 5 games against an opponent from another school and points were awarded to the winner.  At the end of the afternoon the results were called out in reverse order. We waited and waited for Watchfield's name and were absolutely delighted to discover that we were the winners! All the children from all schools taking part showed super sportsmanship and I was particularly proud of the commitment to improving their game that each of the Watchfield players showed throughout the afternoon.  Our win means that we qualify to go to the Vale of White Horse area competition where I know that, once again, I will be proud of all the children there.  Well done Watchfield Tennis team!!

Children taking part were: Max, Riley, Rani, Harry T, Matthew B, Cate, Annabel and Linda
