The first of the three maths papers is arithmetic where children are tested purely on their calculation skills ... there are no worded questions.  A secure knowledge of times tables alongside a sound understanding of the four operations is essential.  Here is some information for parents, along with some sample questions with answers.

The two reasoning papers test the children on their ability to apply their arithmetic knowledge to real-life problems, as well as testing other aspects of the curriculum, for example co-ordinates and interpreting data.
