News and Reminders:

*Don't forget to hand in your child's letter for the FCC trip on the 27th September.

* Jeans 4 Genes day is this Friday, the 20th September.  Bring in £1 to donate to charity and wear your jeans or denim apparel with your school uniform top!

*Coats - please ensure that your child brings a coat to school every day.

Even on days where it does not seem like it is going to rain, it quite often does!  It is therefore important that they bring in a coat to ensure that they stay warm and dry.

*PE Days - Term 1: Tuesday (Outdoor) and Thursday (Indoor)

Please ensure your child has their named PE kit in school on these days each week.  Our PE on Tuesdays is Netball.  Please ensure that your child has a long-sleeved top and long pair of trousers for these lessons, as we will endeavour to go out every week whether it is raining or not!  On Thursdays, please remember that your child will need their water bottle in school, in addition to a short-sleeved top and shorts/leggings and trainers or plimsolls.

Our topic this term is Islands and Rainforests. We are linking this with our work on Evolution and Inheritance in Science, where we are studying inherited characteristics, adaptation and Darwin's Theory of Evolution.  We will also be learning about different endangered and threatened creatures, creating collages and accurate sketches and writing our very own Nature Documentaries in the style of David Attenborough!

The Year 6 children will be taking their SATs in May 2019.  Please don't feel that it is necessary to do any extra work outside school to prepare your children; however, if you would like to find out more information then click the links below or pop into school to ask us any questions you might have.
