We have a lot of exciting things happening this year, so keep an eye on our Class Page in order to stay up to date with all of the brilliant learning we will be doing in Kestrels.
What a start to the year we have had! I know that we have all learnt so much already about our amazing topics and there is still more to come. This term, we will be taking a dive into America and studying a book called Holes by Louis Sachar - as much as I adore when Kestrels go above and beyond in their learning, it really would be great if (have they not already) they don't now read the book at home as we will be reading it in class and I would hate for any surprises to get ruined! Topic web and homework to follow shortly...watch this space.
Please note that our PE days for this term are Thursday and Friday. Children will be required to bring in PE kit for these days and we advise PE kit to remain in school for the entire week as additional PE opportunities may arise.
Homework will be set termly for our topic work. Weekly timestables, spellings and handwriting homework will be set in order to help the children to continue to develop in their learning and prepare for our weekly timestables and spellings tests which will be held on a Thursday. We have also set all of the children up with Doodle Maths log ins - this is a platform that sets them questions across all areas of maths and gives them hints and explanations for the areas that they are struggling with. We are holding competitions in class to see who is our most frequent 'Doodler', so any time they can spend on it at home is greatly appreciated.
It is expected that all children read daily outside of school, whether this is for 5 minutes of for an hour, I do not mind, just as long as they are reading and having their reading record signed by an adult.
Many thanks for your continued support,
