The dedicated 'Primary PE and Sport Premium', which was announced in the Spring of 2013 and began the following September, goes directly to primary school Headteachers so that they can decide how best to use it to improving the quality of PE and school sport for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. OFSTED will play a significant role in ensuring that schools target this funding in areas which will lead to clear outcomes in raising standards and opportunities in PE and school sport for all children throughout the Primary Phase. The PE and Sport Premium is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, sees schools receive an £8,000 lump sum, plus £5 per pupil on roll. Here at Watchfield Primary School that will mean around £9,850 per year.
A summary of the ways in which the PE and Sport Premium has been spent at Watchfield is detailed in the documents below. Further, more detailed information about the impact this funding has on pupils' PE and sport participation and their subsequent attainment, is kept and reviewed by the PE Subject Leader.
During 2016-17, as well as consolidating and developing the above, we have used the Premium for the following activities:
